Aww thank you~. And thank you for the concrit, too :) I tend to be a bit shy when it comes to experimenting, so I sorta just stick to the basics, but I think that this might make me experiment more, lol. I'll definitely try coloring the lineart! I wouldn't really have thought of that.
And actually, in the case of #3, I did remove all the background and colored the background with regular linear-burn. D: But I'll keep in mind that patterns/textures are apparently better to use....
(by the way, the fact that you used 'sexyfine' totally just made my day, orz)

#3 is clean, but the solid BG kinda kicks down the icon a bit. If that even makes sense orz. Even if you just use a slightly darker color and use a really soft, low-opacity brush to add some depth, it could really improve the whole feel. FOR EXAMPLE the icon you used just now; it has an almost-solid BG but because it's a soft lavender and it has the slightest bit of texture, it really seems alive and blends better with the soft hues of the icon colors. o/
Sexyfine is a wonderful phrase, I'm glad it improved your day. X33
