Usually, for cartoons and animanga icons, I like more bright colours, but I think you do a great job with the more pastel-y tones. Maybe you should try playing with the Selective Colour tool more? Sometimes a tiny bit more of colour can do a lot of difference. But I love #3, it's so well executed.
