I don't think you need to start using more textures--I really think that your manipulation of colour and light enhances the mood of the icon enough that it makes a statement without being too loud or too overdone to the point of losing the mood; your cropping is delightful.

If you were to experiment with textures, I'd reccommend scratch textures for a sort of cracked fabric effect, or warm coloured light textures to underscore the cool colours that you use quite often.

yes, i need to invest in new/more scratch textures, though it's good to see at least someone doesn't think i've been overusing them. aaand warm light textures is a fab idea. looks like i'll be texture hunting today. E_____E -hide in the bushes-

Honestly, I think it's just a different style of icon-ing; some people use a lot of textures and some don't. I like yours even though most of them don't have textures, personally.

The blue/cool tones in some of them (namely the 1st, 4th and 5th on the top) kinda...asdfghjkl me a bit. >________> Well, moreso the first two than the Ramones one, but I'm not sure if that's just me or not; I tend to prefer warmer colors myself, so.

I love your cropping, though. x3 And the Hanni one's amazing (I swear, my bias has almost nothing to do with that opinion u___u) crop-wise and color-wise, as is the....Absinthe one? Is that what that woman is? xD And the floatinghead!George one makes me giggle a bit. Shh, don't tell.

yeah, but i think i wanna start using more...if i can figure out now. XD; it sucks how with every type of texture, there's a different way of using them and unfortunately, they don't come with instructions. ><;

well, i kinda made the blue in those a bit strong, i realise. (mainly...because...i might've gotten the settings wrong on one of the selective colour layers and didn't realise until i had finished 90% of the icon batch. XD! ) but~ i've actually been toying with the idea of creating a warmer effect with that style. no idea how it would turn out but...worth exploring, right? C:
